Jeanette is a fibre and clay artist who has been weaving baskets for 20 years. She has exhibited her artwork, attended workshops, visited basket weavers and potters in New Zealand, America and France as well as Australia. She is also an art teacher and has run her own craft shop. Jeanette basket weaving during a teacher exchange in the USA for a year in Pennsylvania.

Baskets which can be made during these workshops include -
Coiled and Stitched Basket
Make baskets using fabric strips, wool or fibre which will be wound around a rope or fibre core. Some baskets will be stitched. All materials will be provided however if you have any wool or fabric that you would like to try please bring it along. The baskets will be colourful, functional and decorative. This is a very easy and exciting way to create a basket. You will make two baskets or bags one will be firm and the top will be round the other can be soft oval and flat. You will learn how to make suitable handles
Stitched baskets
Stitched with raffia and dyed corn husks and cane. (pictured left)Baskets are approx. 12cm high,11cm wide.
8” Appalachian melon basket
From cane, seagrass and natural fibres.
